For Gwendolyn Brooks
I was in the audience at The London Pub 27 years ago when poet and photographer, Lamont B. Steptoe gave the first public reading of his remarkable poem, "For Gwendolyn Brooks." The poem has remained a favorite of mine since I first heard Steptoe recite it at the London Pub in 1980.
Your assignment is to set Steptoe's poem to pictures.
To do this project well, you will need to match each line of the poem with the most relevant and appropriate pictures that you can find. Get your images from the Internet. You may use original pictures from books or magazines. You may use pictures that you take pictures with your cell phone. Only use relevant pictures or symbols that match the lines perfectly. Do not use animation/cartoon figures.
Create this program in any of the following programs: Google Presentation, ZOHO Show or PowerPoint. At the end of your presentation, you must include a photo credit slide that lists all of the images you used for this assignment. That list must be hyperlinked. Also include a short biographical sketch of poets Gwendolyn Brooks and Lamont B. Steptoe.
You will need to record yourself reciting this poem in its entirety.
See me right away if you have questions.
